AAHPERD

The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Records Collection (1885-2004). The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) is the largest organization of professionals supporting and assisting those involved in physical education, leisure, fitness, dance, health promotion, and education and all specialties related to achieving a healthy lifestyle. AAHPERD is an alliance of six national associations and six district associations. The collection includes the records of the National Association of Girls and Women in Sport, National Dance Association, National Association for Sport and Physical Education, American Association for Health Education, American Association for Leisure and Recreation, American College of Sport Medicine as well as personal and professional papers of AAHPERD leader Mabel Lee. It includes material in a number of different formats in addition to documents including photographs, films, video and audio cassettes, books, journals, memorabilia.

The AAHPERD Collection is searchable in a separate Voyager catalog. Searching AAHPERD follows the same procedures as searching the main library collection on the Voyager online catalog. Many materials in the AAHPERD collection are housed in several archival boxes. Check the Table of Contents screen of the Voyager record to identify which box or item is needed.
