5 Great Reasons to Major in Emergency Medical Services Management at Springfield College

Great Reasons! There are only fifteen Emergency Medical Services (EMS) bachelor’s degree programs in the country.

The Springfield College Emergency Medical Services program is one of the oldest of such programs in the U.S. and the only one in the Northeast. Since 1885, Springfield College has been world-renowned for its focus on health and wellness and a mission that promotes leadership in service to others. Springfield College graduates are “people-people” who unite their expertise with the desire to work for the greater good of humanity.

Great Reasons! Accreditation is a signature of training excellence achieved through strict compliance to the highest standards. It is a process of external quality review used by the Office of Emergency Medical Services to analyze emergency medical services education programs for quality assurance and quality improvement.

We are the first emergency medical services training institution in Massachusetts to be accredited by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.

Great Reasons!Hands-on experience is vital to individuals majoring in emergency medical services.

Our students serve the campus and local communities as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and First Responders. The emergency medical services management program offers students the opportunity to learn real-world, on-the-job skills through its academic field experience as well as internship opportunities. This combination of skills development and hands-on knowledge makes our graduates competitive candidates for employment.

Great Reasons!According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for emergency medical technicians and paramedics is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2016. Job prospects should be good, particularly in cities and private ambulance services.

We have a 99-percent post-graduate employment rate; job opportunities are expected to increase. Our alumni run ambulance services and regional emergency medical services offices, command fire service units, coordinate the national emergency medical services response through the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC), teach emergency medical services at various levels, and serve in the military.

Great Reasons! People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians and paramedics.

At Springfield College, you’ll learn from the best. Our faculty are active practitioners in emergency medical services, as emergency medical technicians and paramedics, search and rescue management incident commanders, and disaster responders through the National Defense Medical System – Disaster Medical Assistance Teams.
