Greetings to the Class of 2016
As students ourselves, we understand it is not easy to leave home four days earlier than your friends. We remember having those same feelings. Pre-Camp is a student-run program for first-year students designed to help students get a head-start in making new friends, familiarizing themselves with the college experience, and gaining a sense of self assurance and confidence.
Pre-Camp will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 through Friday, August 31, 2012. We’ll spend four days and three nights at East Campus, a section of the Springfield College campus located a mile and a half away from the main campus.
East Campus is a nature zone with outdoor sleeping facilities as well as hiking trails, picnic areas, wide-open fields, and a waterfront. You will return to the main campus on Friday morning (August 31, 2012) to join the rest of the incoming class before New Student Orientation (NSO) begins.
We encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as Pre-Camp can only accommodate 75 students. The deadline for the application is Friday, June 29, 2012. Accepted students will be given more details and will need to pay an $80 fee to cover the cost of food and activities upon acceptance.
If you have any questions, or would like further information about Pre-Camp 2012, please feel free to contact: Pre-Camp co-chair Rhian Duggan (Class of 2013) at firstname.lastname@example.org or (774) 258-1502 , Pre-Camp co-chair Kevin Moss (Class of 2013) at email@example.com or (860) 202-1016, Advisor Annie Warchol (Assistant Director of Student Activities and Campus Union) at (413) 748-3143, or Karen Kisiel (Coordinator of Campus Union Operations) at (413) 748-3144.
