East Campus Outdoor Learning Center

East CampusOutdoor adventure programs have become one of today’s most valuable resources for team-building, managerial training, and goal-oriented growth. Despite being a large city, Springfield is home to an exceptional outdoor learning center, and some pretty great people, too!

Our Mission

The mission of East Campus Outdoor Learning Center is to support the programs of Springfield College through purposefully designed experiential learning opportunities in an out-of-doors setting with educational, recreation, business, and therapeutic groups.

How We Started

Founded in 1885 as a training school for YMCA executives, Springfield College has deep roots and a rich history of leadership in experiential education. Springfield College’s East Campus Outdoor Learning Center for adventure-based training and development, originally established in 1930, was developed specifically to integrate the advantages of outdoor recreation, individual and group leadership, adventure training, and focused human development.

What We Do

Our well-trained staff organizes and constructs experiential activities to support the unique goals of each program, while reflecting the Humanics Philosophy of Springfield College.

Humanics (hyoo-man iks) pl. n. 1. Education of the whole person - spirit, mind, body - for leadership in service to others. 2. Guiding philosophy of Springfield College.
