About the Career Center
Welcome to the Career Center!Whether you’re a student, an alumnus, a parent, employer or a faculty member, we hope you’ll make the time to meet the Career Center staff and learn about the many opportunities, resources, and services that the Career Center provides. Students from all classes, majors/programs, and schools are encouraged to work with the Career Center staff as early as their first year. The experienced staff is committed to promoting student learning and development and offers a variety of opportunities for students and alumni alike to explore career options, identify career related experiential experiences, refine job searching skills, identify employment opportunities, prepare for admission in graduate and professional schools, and network with SC alumni. These experiences are lifetime and at no cost.

Career ExplorationThrough individualized counseling appointments, students learn about career fields that match their interests and skills; work with a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator counselor; have access to FOCUS, an online career interest assessment tool; and receive assistance in arranging job shadowing opportunities.
Job Search StrategiesJob fairs, job search seminars, individualized resume and cover letter assistance, online employment and internship bulletins, on-campus interviews, alumni networking, and the annual Graduation & Beyond event all prepare students for employment and connect them with job opportunities.
Graduate School AdvisementIndividual advising and seminars guide students through the graduate school search and application process. The Career Center offers an annual GRE prep course.
Experiential EducationStudents have a wide range of opportunities to apply what they learn in the classroom, gain real-world experience, and advance their professional development.
Career Resources/Web PageOnline, print, and video reference materials on careers, career decision-making, internships, graduate school, employment trends, and international opportunities are available through the Career Center library.
MISSION:In accord with the mission of Springfield College, the Career Center's mission is to educate and empower students and alumni to explore careers and effectively manage their career/ life planning by facilitating career exploration and personal development; to provide counseling and learning experiences that foster professionalism and career decision making; and to assist in the successful transition to the workplace.
