Posted August 31, 2012

Assembly Members of the Springfield College Class of 2016 have officially embarked on their college careers.

First-year students arrived on campus the morning of August 31. They were greeted by student leaders, athletic teams, faculty, staff, and alumni who helped move them into their residence halls. In the afternoon, the College hosted its annual New Student Assembly at Blake Arena officially starting New Student Orientation on campus this weekend.Assembly
As part of the assembly, students and their families were officially welcomed to campus by Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn. At its conclusion, new students joined their classmates and new student orientation leaders to begin familiarizing themselves with the College, its traditions, and all aspects of campus life. The weekend is filled with group activities, including some time together at the College's East Campus, a “nature zone” a mile and a half from the main campus. Incoming freshmen were given their traditional Springfield College beanies to wear throughout the duration of new student orientation, which concludes on Monday. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 4.
