Springfield College Welcomes Damon Markiewicz as New Associate Director for Media Relations

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Damon J. Markiewicz has joined Springfield College as associate director for media relations in the Office of Marketing & Communications. Markiewicz is responsible for developing and maintaining a proactive media relations program that will communicate newsworthy information to the media, the College community, and the public.
For the past seven years, Markiewicz served as manager of media relations and internet services for the Springfield Falcons hockey team. In his role with the Falcons, Markiewicz focused on fulfilling all media requests, building community relations efforts, and developing the team’s social media strategy.
A 15-year veteran of media relations, Markiewicz also previously worked for the Adirondack Frostbite hockey team based in Glens Falls, N.Y., and the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team located in Phoenix, Ariz. He currently is a board member of the Western Massachusetts chapter of the March of Dimes, a member of the Pioneer Valley chapter for Junior Achievement, and is a volunteer for the Springfield Hockey Heritage Society.
