Springfield College Has Another Super Bowl Connection This Sunday
February 2, 2012SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 2, 2012— For the fifth time in the last six years, Springfield College will have a presence in and connection to the Super Bowl. The game, between the New England Patriots and New York Giants, takes place Sunday, Feb. 5 in Indianapolis.
Springfield College alum Dave Gettleman, now in his 24th year in the NFL and 14th year with the New York Giants - his 13th as the Giants' Director of Pro Personnel - will participate in his sixth Super Bowl. He was part of two winning Super Bowls -- with the Denver Broncos in the 1997 season and the Giants in the 2007 season.
Born in Boston, Gettleman has a bachelor's degree from Springfield College in 1972. He played on Springfield College's freshman football team as an offensive tackle.
