Free Fitness and Health Tests at Springfield College Fit Fest
February 17, 2010SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 17, 2010 -- Take a test to learn your percentage of body fat; get a flu or H1N1 immunization; have your hearing, vision, and oral health assessed; find out which running shoes are most suited to you; learn about environmentally safe cleaning products; see healthy Mediterranean cooking demonstrations; receive a chair massage and much more at the Springfield College Fit Fest Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Springfield College Field House. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
More than 35 exhibits and activities will address how to achieve personal wellness. Spectators will be able to view Springfield College students competing for the titles of King Fit or Queen Fitness through tests of power, strength, speed and agility. There will also be demonstrations of exercising through hip-hop dance at 11:45 a.m., Zumba dance at noon, and yoga at 12:40 p.m.
Students and faculty members in health and education fields of study and campus clubs have designed the day in conjunction with the college’s longstanding emphasis on exercise and fitness and its commitment to personal wellness.
This year’s Springfield College Fit Fest recognizes National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day, an annual event of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association on Feb. 22, 2010. More information on Fit Fest is available by calling 748-3421.
