Mukogawa Women’s University Scholars Conducting Research at Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 1, 2009 – Scholars from Mukogawa Women's University in Tokyo, Japan are pursuing research at Springfield College this summer.

Nao Nakamura, an alumna of the university who is on the staff of a private fitness club in the Osaka area, is conducting research on the management and administration of fitness clubs and sport gyms in corporate settings.

Rio Nakamichi, a first-year graduate student in the doctoral program at Mukogawa, is continuing her research on “A Study of the Fruitful Life--through a Survey on the Lives of Female Wheelchair Basketball Athletes," a subject on which she recently completed her master's degree thesis. She also gave a presentation on her research in the Davis Lab of Babson Library on August 24.

Accompanying Nakamura and Nakamichi is Mukogawa Professor Yutaka Mizutani, who has been a frequent visitor to Springfield College, often to continue his research in basketball and recently, volleyball. While in the Springfield area, the group is visiting local attractions and connecting with friends and colleagues.
