SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 29, 2008 – Marketing experts in sports products and sports events will give their best advice at the Springfield College Sport and Recreation Marketing Symposium Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., in the Townhouse Conference Room on the campus.
Speaking about marketing the product will be Mike Berry, regional sales representative of Musco Lighting; Doug MacDougall, director/entrepreneur of Weston Parks & Recreation; and Todd Munn, recreation therapist/director of Gaylord Hospital Sport Association.
Discussing marketing the sport will be American Hockey League President Dave Andrews; Dream Bat Company President and Founder Tim Mayo; President of Western Massachusetts Sports Journal Media Corporation Tad Tokarz; and United States Tennis Association New England Director of Marketing Celia Lucas, and Director of Community Tennis Deidre McCormack.
Participants and speakers will continue discussions over lunch. Admission for students and faculty is free, and is $25 for others. The program is eligible for three-tenths of one continuing education unit. The Springfield College Department of Sport Management and Recreation offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs which are accredited by the National Parks and Recreation Association. Students learn event management; sport and recreation marketing; and facility design, operation and maintenance. They also gain real-world experience through internships.
