February 3, 2004SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 3, 2004 – A Katharine Hepburn film festival and a reading by the author of a powerful new work on Sojourner Truth will be highlights of Springfield College’s winter/spring series of performing and visual arts events open to the public free of charge. Rounding out the series will be a concert by an internationally renowned chorus of lively elders, a theatre performance of a wicked comedy, and gallery exhibitions by leading area artists and student artists. Fiction Reading
By Jacqueline Sheehan
Jacqueline Sheehan reads from her new novel, “Truth,” based on the life of Sojourner Truth, a former slave who became one of the most influential 19th century abolitionists and feminist orators. With a unique and powerful voice, Sheehan deftly weaves the historical accuracies of Sojourner's turbulent life in her first novel based on five years of research. Sheehan is a psychologist, essayist, and short story writer. Discussion, refreshments and book signing.

Tracey and Hepburn were never better. The first teaming of Kate and long-time love, Spencer Tracey, glows with their special chemistry. She’s a world-famous political pundit, and he’s a down-to-earth sports writer. Can this romance survive?

Everyone’s life will change when the famous director, Billy Einhorn, shows up with his glamorous and deaf movie star girlfriend. A wicked comedy about the lust for fame, set in the 60’s, but smelling like the present.
