Academic Coach (900 hours, 18 positions)

The academic coach serves 23 to 25 hours per week in a Springfield public middle school or high school, providing academic support in math and English; monitoring attendance, grades, and behavior; and building trusting relationships with students at risk for dropping out.  The academic coach serves as part of a team of coaches and school counselors to implement attendance interventions, provide resources for students with social-emotional and behavioral issues, foster academic success, and support college and career awareness and preparation.

Academic Coach: LACES (900 hours, 6 positions)

The Leaders in Academics, Community Engagement, and Service (LACES) academic coach serves 23 to 25 hours per week in a Springfield public high school, providing academic support through weekly study halls; monitoring attendance, grades, and behavior; and building trusting relationships with student-athletes at risk for dropping out. The LACES coach serves as part of a team of coaches and school counselors to implement attendance interventions, provide resources for students with social-emotional and behavioral issues, foster academic success, and support college and career awareness and preparation.

Literacy Tutor - Quarter-Time (450 hours, 12 positions)

Literacy Tutor - Half-Time (900 hours, 8 positions)

Quarter-time tutors serve 10-12 hours per week, while Half-time tutors tutors serve 20 to 23 hours per week. This position serves in a private or public pre-K program in Springfield, providing early literacy instruction, interventions, and support to children ages 3 to 5.

School Counselor (900 hours, 12 positions)*

The school counselor* serves 20 to 23 hours per week in a Springfield public middle school or high school with a guidance/adjustment counselor or school social worker, providing one-on-one and group counseling to students with social-emotional and behavioral issues who are at risk of dropping out. The school counselor serves as part of a team of counselors and academic coaches to implement attendance interventions, identify resources for students with social-emotional and behavioral issues, foster academic success, and support college and career awareness and preparation.

*School counselors must be enrolled in the graduate School Guidance or Social Work program, or have extensive counseling experience. Students from programs such as Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Art Therapy, and other counseling fields also may be considered.

School Volunteer Coordinator (900 hours, 4 positions)

The school volunteer coordinator serves 20 to 23 hours per week in the Office of Student Volunteer Programs or at Springfield School Volunteers to recruit, train, and manage college and community volunteers for service in the Springfield Public Schools. The school volunteer coordinator also helps plan and implement member service projects.
