David Miller, PT, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Physical Therapy Department, coauthored a case report with his wife, Nancy H Miller, MD, and Joanna L Goldberg, PT, entitled Physical Therapy Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention for a Patient with West Nile Virus Paralysis that appeared in the June 2006 edition of Physical Therapy, the premier peer-reviewed journal for the profession. Dr. Nancy Miller is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Baystate Medical Center and Ms. Goldberg is a physical therapist at the Neurologic and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center at Mapleton, Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado. The purpose of this report was to describe the physical therapy management and outcomes for a patient with West Nile neuroinvasive disease and the therapist's efforts to use an evidence-based practice approach in the management of a patient with this debilitating disease.
