Springfield College

A Message to the Springfield College Community from the President, in Response to the Virginia Tech Tragedy

On behalf of Springfield College faculty, staff, and students, I wish to extend our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers to the families, students, and colleagues at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. There are no words that can adequately express how profoundly we feel about the loss of those who are part of other academic communities.

It’s important to note that on the Springfield College campus, counseling services—which are located in the Health Center—are available during the day by calling 748-3345. After hours, counselors can be reached through Public Safety at 748-5555. The Campus Ministry is available at 748-3210.

There is no higher priority on our campus than the security and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. In addition to established emergency procedures, there are many safety and security measures in place, which can be reviewed by clicking on the link below.

All campus flags will be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Sunday, April 22, in accordance with a proclamation by the President of the United States honoring the victims of the tragedy.

Yours in peace,

Richard B. Flynn
President
