Professional Interests

I am author of "Redington Field Guides to Biological Interactions- Plants in Wetlands" and editior of "Redington Field Guids to Biological Interactions- Animals in Towns and Cities" by Joanna Burger, Ph.D., Rutgers University; author of Carolina Tips articles, Carolina Biologicals, and scientific and technical papers in environmental science.

I have lead environmental/biological expeditions with students to East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda) on photograhpic games runs, tribal visits including Masai, climb and study of the ecology of Mt. Kilimanjaro, visit to gorillas of the Rwandan forest, Serengeti and Olduvai. Have lead expeditions to the Keys of Florida. Have travelled the Amazon River and some of its major tributaries including the Rio Negro, Tapajos, and Arapiuns and I am currently working in the Amazon Basin with the YMCA of Brazil to establish an international interdisciplinary environmental education center there.

My courses involve students in many practical hands -on field work experiences, weekend reconnaissances, and opportunites for valuable internship connections
