SHS career services

Mission Statement

The Career Center's mission is to educate and empower students and alumni to explore careers and effectively manage their career life planning. The Career Center actively partners with faculty and the college community to develop career related experiences that lead to satisfying work, which contributes to the growth of the community.

SHS Services

To meet the needs of our SHS students we employ some targeted techniques.

All SHS students are encouraged to utilize the Career Center’s extensive webpage to learn about resumes, cover letters, interviewing, graduate school and career exploration. The Jobs portion of our website provides access to our recommended job and internships sites. These recommendations include a subsection of weblinks specifically geared towards Human and Social Services.

Telephone Appointments Welcomed

Students wishing to speak directly with a Career Counselor can make an appointment to speak with Scott Dranka. Each Career Counselor at Springfield College has a specialization in specific career fields. Scott works with students and alumni from the human and social services fields. Students are encouraged to make an individual appointment in our office, but understanding that distance can sometimes be a barrier, the Career Center will also schedule telephone appointments.

During a telephone appointment, Scott Dranka will call you to discuss career issues and/or review a resume or cover letter that you fax to (413) 748–3022, or email Scott Dranka prior to the interview. To schedule an appointment please call the Career Center at (413) 748–3110 or (413) 748–3222 and be sure to mention to the secretary whether you are looking to make a telephone or office appointment.

Career Workshops Available

The Career Center is also willing to work with the SHS campuses to provide career related workshops via distance technologies where possible. If your campus is looking to explore the possibility please contact Scott Dranka (413) 784–3110.
