Jason MacDonald Earns Weekly Awards
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 19, 2002 - Springfield College junior defensive end
Jason MacDonald has been named the ECAC Division III Northeast and the Freedom Football Conference Defensive player of the Week.
MacDonald, who hails from
Brewster, Mass., had a monster day in the No. 19 SC's 55-27 win over visiting Union on Saturday. He registered nine tackles (four
unassisted) and three sacks for losses of 24 yards. He helped the Pride hold
a potent Union offense to just 113 yards on the ground and 105 yards passing
(218 total yards).
MacDonald, who doubled his season sack total to six, is second on the team in tackles for loss with nine, and tied for tenth with 28 tackles.
19th-ranked SC (8-1) faces SUNY Brockport in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sat., Nov. 23 at 12 p.m. in Brockport, N.Y.
