



SYLVAN LAKE, Fla.-- March 12, 2007 - The Springfield College Men's Tennis team defeated Drew University, 5-4, in what was a closely contested struggle throughout. The Pride won four of the six singles matches to come from behind for the victory.
Springfield was led by sophomore Drew Constant (Kingston, N.Y.), the reigning NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, who teamed up with Joe Lisi (Southbridge, Mass.) to take the Pride’s only doubles victory, 8-2. Constant then went on to dominate in the No. 1 singles match, beating Ross Lieblich in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Also victorious in singles play for the Pride were Lisi, Trevor Romanzi (Bayshore, N.Y.), and Rahul Bala who won a critical third set, 7-5, in the No. 4 singles match.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
