Women's Lacrosse Defeats Western New England College, 15-4
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 19, 2005 -- Springfield College junior forward
Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) scored four goals and added an assist as the Pride defeated cross-town rival Western New England College, 15-4, in women’s lacrosse tonight at Benedum Field.
SC (8-4) took the lead just 17 seconds into the game on Carmody’s first goal. The Pride then scored the next six goals, including two by senior midfielder
Spring Silverman’s (Huntingdon, Pa.), to make it a 7-0 game with 10:48 remaining in the first half. WNEC (6-6) received its first goal of the game from senior forward Kristen Pimental with 9:47 to go in the half. SC sophomore
Heidi Eidse (Bryn Athyn, Pa.) scored the last two goals of the half to give the Pride a 9-1 lead at the break.
The Pride opened the second half with a 5-1 run on two goals from junior midfielder
Rachel Lampros (Boxborough, Mass.), and Silverman’s third goal of the game, to make it a 14-2 game with 10:48 left in the game. WNEC scored two of the games last three goals but it was not enough as the Pride extended its winning streak to four games with the 15-4 victory.
SC will host Mount Holyoke College in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference action on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 on Benedum Field.
