



West Point, N.Y., January 27, 2007 - Springfield College junior J.J. Ferreira (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished in a team-best eighth place in the floor event with a score of 8.050 this past Saturday at the West Point Gymnastics Open in West Point, New York.
The Pride, which is ranked 16th nationally, finished fifth out of seven teams in the overall standings with 185.05 total points. SC finished ahead of No. 18 MIT, as the Engineers garnered 174.10 total points, and 20th-ranked James Madison University, who had 162.15 total points. Coming in first was second-ranked Penn State University with 214.70 total points followed by No. 10 Temple with 199.50 total points. Third and fourth-place finishers were No. 12 Army and No. 14 Navy with 197.75 and 190.25 points, respectively.
SC sophomore Andy Kelly (Marston Mills, Mass.) was the only other member of the Pride to place, finishing ninth in the parallel bars with a score of 7.550.
The Pride will next compete at the James Madison University Invitational on Saturday, February 3rd.
