Michael Judge Named FFC's Top Offensive Player
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 22, 2002 -- Springfield College sophomore quarterback
Michael Judge was selected as the Freedom Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 22).
Judge is the second SC player to win the FFC weekly award in three weeks. Sophomore halfback
Will Davis earned the honor on Sept. 9.
In his third consecutive start, the
Chatham, N.J., native rushed for a game-high 142 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries (10.1 ypc) in a 26-13 win at Kings Point on Saturday (Sept. 21). On the final play of the first quarter, Judge raced 97 yards for a touchdown. He also completed 2-of-3 passes for 30 yards.
Judge is fourth in the FFC in rushing (87.5 ypg) and 10th in total offense (97.5 ypg). The Pride is 3-0 in Judge's last three starts, including a 49-35 win over then No. 16 Union in the final regular season game of 2001. In those three games, SC has scored 144 points (48 ppg).

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980.
