



SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 23, 2006 – The 7-0 Springfield College football team has been ranked #1 in New England for the sixth straight week in the New England Division III Coaches poll, released Monday. SC was also ranked #1 in the first five polls of 2006.
In each of the past two weeks, SC recorded 13 first-place votes (out of 15). Overall, SC has amassed 148 points, while second-place Williams (5-0) has 131. Curry (8-0) remains in third with 123 points and the other two first-place votes.
In addition, SC has been ranked 14th nationally (up three spots) by D3football.com, and has moved up three more spots to #12 in Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
