SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 3, 2007) – The Springfield College men’s tennis team lost to Connecticut College, 6-3, this afternoon at SC’s Appleton Courts.
With the win, Conn College is now 6-4 overall, while Springfield falls to 4-4.
The Camels jumped to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles. SC fought back and made it interesting before splitting the singles matches, 3-3. Certainly the highlight for SC came at No. 1 singles, where sophomore Andrew Constant (Kingston, N.Y.) defeated sophomore David Kellogg (Kula, Hawaii), 6-4, 6-3. Other winners for SC included freshman Trevor Romanzi (Bayshore, N.Y.) at No. 5, and sophomore Bobby Schlink (Quaker Hill, Conn.) at No. 6.
Singles winners for Conn College included junior Ted McAusher (Mystic, Conn.) at No. 2, senior Ned Minevitz (Hingham, Mass.) at No. 3, and sophomore Andrew Watts (West Chester, Pa.) at No. 4. Kellogg and McAusher teamed to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Minevitz and senior Ben Sherman (Geneva, Switzerland) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. And Watts and senior Andrew Meyer (Weston, Conn.) won at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
