Lewis and Headley Compete in Opening Day of NCAA Championships

March 14, 2008 - Springfield College's Steve Headley and John Lewis competed in the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

In the weight throw event, Lewis finished 12th in the nation with a toss of 54-9 1/4 or 16.69 meters.

Headley, who has been one of the top sprinters in the country all season, opened up his competition with the prelims in the 55-meter dash on Friday evening. Headley had the second-fastest qualifying time of the day after he crossed the finish line in 6.34 seconds.

Headley will line up next to the defending national champion, Eddie Bynum of Salem State, in lane three on Saturday.
