



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - March 8, 2008 - Paced by a record-setting performance in the 4x220 relay, the Springfield College men's track and field team placed sixth out of 58 teams this past weekend at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.
The Pride's 4x220 relay team comprised of Steve Headley, Nickel Hay, Matt Amendola, and Tim Rehm ran an ECAC record time of 1:30.17 en route to a first place finish. That mark also set a new Springfield College record.
Headley also was terrifc in the 55-meter dash as he tied for first place with a blazing time of 6.33. His time was an NCAA Championships Automatic Qualifying time.
In the weight throw, both John Lewis and Dom Uguccioni registered NCAA Provisional qualifying tosses. Lewis finished in fourth place with a toss of 17.11m (56-1.75), while Uguccioni placed in sixth with a throw of 16.72m (54-10.25).

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
