



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 27, 2007) – The Springfield College men’s tennis team defeated cross-town rival Western New England College, 8-1, this afternoon in a match at WNEC’s courts.
With the win, Springfield is now 4-2.
Springfield jumped to a 3-0 lead by sweeping the doubles. SC then won five of the six singles matches. Springfield sophomore Andrew Constant (Kingston, N.Y.) had a good day, winning at No. 1 singles over sophomore Alex Boutin (Bristol, Conn.), 7-5, 6-0. Constant had earlier teamed with junior Joe Lisi (Southbridge, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles to defeat Jason Lee and Mike Willhoft, 8-2.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
