Men’s Lacrosse Freshman Taylor Brown Receives Weekly Honors
, April 30, 2003 – For the second time in three weeks, Springfield College freshman attackman Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.)
was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after leading the Pride to a pair of conference wins and a number-one seed for the upcoming Pilgrim League Tournament.
Brown, who also was named the conference’s top player for the third consecutive week, had five goals and three assists in a 16-3 win over West Division-leading Western New England on Wednesday, and added four goals and an assist in a 18-4 win over Lasell on Saturday.
Brown ranks seventh in the nation in scoring (5.42 ppg) and eighth in goals (3.33 gpg) for the Pride, which has the sixth-highest scoring offense (15.15 gpg) in Division III.
Springfield (9-4), which is riding a seven-game win streak, won the Pilgrim League East Division and will host Mass. Maritime in the first round of the conference tournament at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday (April 30). The winner will advance to play in the tournament final on Saturday (May 3) for an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
