Women's Lacrosse Falls To No. 1 Middlebury In NCAA Regional Semifinal
MIDDLEBURY, Vt., May 11, 2002 - Char Glessner and Meg Bonney each tallied three first half goals and defending national champion Middlebury College jumped out to a 14-goal halftime lead en route to a 19-2 win over Springfield College in Saturday's NCAA Division III regional semifinal at Kohn Field.
Middlebury, the tournament's top seed, jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead to improve to 15-0 overall this season. The Panthers advance to host William Smith on Sunday afternoon in the regional final.
Junior defender
Lindsay Reiniger (Rochester, N.Y.) and senior attacker
Kimberly Dole (Old Chatham, N.Y.) each scored a goal for the Pride (13-5 overall), which saw its school-record 11-game winning streak snapped with the loss.
Junior goalkeeper
Emily Boosahda (Bass River, Mass.) turned aside 14 shots in the losing effort.
