Springfield College Lands 16 On FFC All-Academic Team
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov 20, 2003- Sixteen members of Springfield College’s undefeated football team were named to the Freedom Football Conference All-Academic Team announced today.
The Pride’s total was second to only WPI (18) in the seven-team league. To be named to the team, a student athlete must have a 3.0 grade-point average and play a significant role on his team.
Included on the all-academic team are senior linebacker
Jesse Baker (Rutland, Vt.), junior halfback
Kevin Domurat (Forestdale, Mass.), junior linebacker
Justin Fletcher (Orwell, Vt.) and senior place-kicker
Greg Switaj (Ridgewood, N.J.), who were also all-FFC selections.
Other members of the Pride honored on the FFC All-Academic Team were sophomore linebacker
Jason Benguche (Housatonic, Mass.), senior split end
Jackson Brown (Arundel, Maine), junior linebacker
Brett Cardillo (Sauquoit, N.Y.), junior linebacker
Michael Clark (Paramus, N.J.), junior defensive back
Jeremiah Goodnow (Harwich, Mass.), sophomore split end
Damian Gunningsmith (Trumansburg, N.Y.), junior quarterback
Michael Judge (Chatham, N.J.), senior halfback
Nate Ingram (Brewster, Mass.), sophomore offensive lineman
Marcello Mancini (Malden, Mass.), junior center
Don Marini (Woonsocket, R.I.), sophomore defensive end
Shawn McMillan (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.), junior linebacker
Curtis Schmidt (Whitesboro, N.Y.), sophomore linebacker
Jacob Treadwell (S. Paris, Maine).
No. 6 Springfield College (10-0) will be hosting the winner of RPI vs. Curry in the second-round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. The game is scheduled for Sat., Nov. 29 on Benedum Field.

Head Coach Mike DeLong
Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 32nd season as a head football coach in the fall of 2013. He enters his 30th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980.
