Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Wheaton, 12-7
Norton, Mass., April 12, 2003- Despite three goals by freshman forward
Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) the Springfield College women’s lacrosse team fell to Wheaton College, 12-7, in a match up of the top-two teams in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), Saturday, at Keefe Field.
Springfield led, 3-2, at halftime in a rematch of last year’s NEWMAC Tournament championship game won by the Pride, 7-5, A five-goal Wheaton run during the second half led the Pride (6-4, 4-1 NEWMAC) to its first conference loss of the spring, while the Lyons (7-2, 5-0 NEWMAC) took sole possession of first place in the conference.
Springfield freshman forward
Erin Looney (West Springfield, Mass.) helped the cause for the Pride with two goals.
Springfield will play their next game at home Tuesday night against Amherst at 7 p.m.
