



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 8, 2007) – Alyssa Brigham led all Springfield College finishers at the Amherst Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday.
As a team, the Pride placed second of eight squads represented at the invitational with a score of 85 points. Host Amherst placed first with 20 points. In third was Wheaton (101), followed by Merrimack (119), Bryant (139), St. Anselm (147), Assumption (156), and UMass Lowell 161.
On the women’s side, Brigham, a senior co-captain from Penacook, N.H., finished 10th overall with a time of 20:46.0. Behind her were sophomore Amanda DiPaolo (Philipstown, N.Y.) (13th, 21:15.1), freshman Lacey Cartier (York, Me.) (20th, 21:56.8), senior co-captain Jess Borsotti (Northampton, Mass.) (25th, 22:19.3), and freshman Amanda Mullen (Claremont, N.H.) (34th, 22:41.9).
Others who competed for Springfield included senior Katelyn Rudolph (Amherst, N.Y.) (43rd, 23:27.9), junior Lara Dalidowitz (Southington, Conn.) (55th, 24:10.9), freshman Mollie Berndt (Burlington, Wisc.) (60th, 24:28.9), freshman Jackie Pires (Davie, Fla.) (64th, 24:41.9), freshman Rachel DiMattia (Kensington, Conn.) (66th, 24:51.2), sophomore Allison Vander Werff (Golden’s Bridge, N.Y.) (68th, 24:56.0), freshman Tiffany Rozenas (Rochester, Mass.) (69th, 25:01.8), freshman Kelly Murray (Cohoes, N.Y.) (70th, 25:06.5), and sophomore Emma Lang (Woodstock, N.Y.) (72nd, 25:16.5).
Both the men and women will be at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 15). The women will race at 11:15 am, followed by the men at 12 noon.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
