SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 26, 2008) – The Springfield College men's and women's swimming teams fell to visiting Williams College on Saturday afternoon in a a non-conference dual meet. On the men's side, the Ephs won 192-106, while on the women's side, Williams was victorious 216-84.
On the three-meter board, the Pride took the top three spots with Brian Sobol leading the charge with a 313.35. Ben Casavant placed second with a 312.90, while Michael Osborne registered a 249.30.
On the one-meter, Casavant took first (300.75), while Sobol placed second (266.99), and Matt Fitzgerald third (253.19).
Erin White led the women's diving corps as she placed second on both boards with a 245.40 on the one-meter and a 260.70 on the three-meter. Melissa Nelson finished third on both boards for the Pride.
Greg Pearsall touched first in the 100 freestyle in a time of 49.34 for the men, while Moira Price finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:26.50 for the Springfield women. The men's 200 freestyle relay team of Roy Burch, Pearsall, Andrew Blakesley, and Matt Manoni touched first in 1:25.52.
The Pride returns to action on Feb. 2nd when the men travel to take on Babson. The women are off until they travel to take on the Lord Jeffs of Amherst on Feb. 9th.
