No. 11 Ithaca Downs Football, 44-20
Ithaca, N.Y., Oct. 5, 2002 - Springfield College sophomore quarterback
Michael Judge (Chatham, N.J.) ran for 95 yards with one touchdown on 12 carries but No. 11 Ithaca beat the Pride, 44-20, in a battle of undefeated teams this afternoon at Butterfield Stadium.
Today's game marked the first time the home team has won in the last six meetings. Ithaca freshman quarterback Josh Felicetti completed 10 of his first 11 passes as the Bombers jumped out to a 20-0 first half lead. Felicetti finished 18 for 31 with for 188 yards and one score.
After spotting the Bombers a 20-point advantage, the Pride scored with 34 seconds left before intermission when sophomore quarterback
Ryan Sylvia (Marion, Mass.) hooked up with split end
Jay Curtis (Princeton, N.J.) for a 34-yard pass to cut the lead to 20-7.
With Ithaca leading 27-7, Judge capped an eight-play, 70-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown run with 2:34 left in the third quarter. On the defensive side of the ball, SC cornerback,
Mike Kimmel (Peabody, Mass.) made 12 tackles, nine unassisted.
Springfield College hosts No. 16 Western Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Benedum Field. The winner of this game has gone on to win the Freedom Football Conference title and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament the last four seasons.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 32nd season as a head football coach in the fall of 2013. He enters his 30th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980.
