Women's Lacrosse Downs Wellesley in Overtime, 12-11

Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) scored the game winning goal in overtime as the Pride downed Wellesley College, 12-11, Saturday at Benedum Field.
Carmody finished with five goals, all in the second half, and one assist, while sophomore
Kacey Wunsch (Londonderry, N.H.) added four goals and freshman
Erin Looney (West Springfield, Mass.) chipped in with two.
Wellesley jumped out to a 5-2 lead with just over 20:00 minutes remaining in the first half. Two straight Looney goals cut the lead to one, before Wellesley senior Grace Tsan scored the first of her five goals with :18 remaining in the half to put the Blue up, 6-4, at halftime.
Tied for the third time in the half after a Carmody goal with 9:40 remaining in regulation, two straight Wellesley goals put the Blue up 11-9 with 7:11 remaining. Three straight goals by the Pride, including the game-tying and game-winning goals by Carmody, led Springfield to its fifth win in its last six games.
The Pride's next game will be Tuesday night at Benedum Field versus Mount Holyoke at 7 p.m.
