Fletcher Earns Academic All-District I Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 15, 2004 -- Springfield College senior linebacker
Justin Fletcher has been named to the 2004 Academic All-District I College Division Football team, announced today.
Fletcher, who hails from
Orwell, Vt., was also a member of the Academic All-District I Team last season. A business major with a 3.48 cumulative grade-point average, Fletcher moves onto the national ballot for the Academic All-America College Division Football team, which will be announced on Dec. 1.
Fletcher, a team co-captain, was a catalyst behind the Pride’s 7-2 season. The two-time all-conference selection leads the team in both solo tackles (34) and total tackles (60). Fletcher also racked up 5.0 tackles-for-loss (17 yards), two fumble recoveries and an interception in nine starts.
SC, which entered last Saturday’s 49-13 win at Norwich ranked 20th in Division III in rushing defense (91.9 yards-per-game) and 24th in total defense (261.0 yards-per-game), plays host to Fitchburg State in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Northeast Bowl on Sat., Nov. 20.

Ashley Reves was named to the Academic All-District I College Division Women’s Volleyball Third Team.
Reves, a native of
Orchard Park, N.Y., led the Pride to its second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. SC, which finished with a 26-8 record, captured its second-straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) crown this season.
Reves, a sport management major with a 3.445 cumulative grade-point average, hammered out a team-leading 408 kills to go along with 106 service aces. She earned NEWMAC All-Conference Second-Team honors this season, and is fourth all-time at SC with 1,179 kills. Reves was recognized as an honorable mention All-American and the conference player of the year in 2003, when she registered a school-record 592 kills.
The Academic All-America Team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980.
