Goalie Emily Boosahda Voted NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Player Of The Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - April 31, 2002 -Springfield College junior goalkeeper
Emily Boosahda (Bass River, Mass.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Goalie of the Week and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week Monday (April 29) after helping the Pride win its first NEWMAC title and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
She started the week off making 11 saves in a 15-3 win over Salve Regina on Tuesday. Then, in the NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday, she recorded 17 saves as the Pride defeated three-time defending tournament champion Wellesley, 13-7. Boosahda then made 10 saves as SC shut down Wheaton, 7-5, on Sunday to clinch an automatic berth to its first NCAA Tournament.
She finished the NEWMAC season with the best goals against average (7.56) and the second highest save percentage (56.2%) in the conference.
Springfield will play in the first-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Wednesday, May 8 with opponent, site and time to be announced.
