



KISSIMMEE, Fla., March 12, 2007 - Springfield College junior righthander Stephanie Blackman (Stamford, Conn.) hurled a complete game, scattering six hits over seven innings while allowing three unearned runs as the Pride defeated the Denison University Big Red, 4-3, this morning at Fortune Field.
SC improves to 2-1 overall on its trip down south with the win. Sophomore Kasey Calderone (Pipersville, Pa.) went 1-for-2 on the day with a run scored and a run batted in (RBI). Freshman Jaimie Moran (Manchester, Conn.) chipped in with one hit in three at-bats, as freshmen Bryn Worrilow (North Babylon, N.Y.) and Michelle Wlosek (Nutley, N.J.) each recorded an RBI in the win.
Penn State-Behrend 8, SC 6
In the Pride's second game on Monday morning, sophomore Angela Atkins (East Haddam, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, but it was Penn State Erie, The Behrend College Lions which edged SC behind four seventh-inning runs, 8-6.
Sophomore Loni Rodriguez (Westfield, Mass.) added two hits in four at-bats with a walk and an RBI, as freshman Jaimie Moran (Manchester, Conn.) chipped in with a 1-for-3 performance with a double.
Sophomore lefthander Samantha Rhodes (Mendon, Mass.) pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs (four earned) to go along with nine strikeouts.

Julie Perrelli enters her fourth season at the helm of the Springfield College softball program and as an assistant professor of physical education. In her first three seasons in the dugout for the Pride, Perelli has guided Springfield to two NEWMAC Championship title games. Read more.
