Social and cultural activities are available throughout the city of Springfield and the surrounding areas. The fourth-largest city in New England, with a population of approximately 150,000, Springfield offers the convenience of the city and the nearby quiet and beauty of the country.

Four of Springfield's finest cultural institutions—the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, the Springfield Science Museum, the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts—surround a quaint and beautiful green, known as the Quadrangle, in the heart of downtown Springfield.

The city also is the site of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and MassMutual Center, home to the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, and home to the National Basketball Association's D-League Springfield Armor. The Volleyball Hall of Fame is located in nearby Holyoke, Mass. Click here for more area attractions.
