Itza Nieves has been named the Springfield College Maroon Club Female Athlete of the Week after leading the women's volleyball team to four wins en route to claiming the Springfield College Invitational.

The Vega Baja, Puerto Rico product was named Most Valuable Player of the Invitational as she anchored the Springfield defense from her libero position. Springfield's four opponents over the weekend combined to hit just .113.

The senior totaled 50 digs in four matches, averaging 3.85 per game. She added five aces and had just four service reception errors in 82 attempts. Nieves top match came in the championship bout against Roger Williams when she racked up 15 digs in four sets.
