The Southborough, Mass. native won three times during the day to pace the Pride. He came through with the highlight victory of the day at 165 in the championship match, defeating the nation's second-ranked wrestler, Collin Crowell, 8-4.
The top-seeded Pride cruised past Coast Guard, 37-3 in the second round as it won as it won nine of 10 bouts against the Bears. Foley beat Coast Guard's Mike Shermot by a 5-1 decision. In the semifinals verus Rhode Island College, each team won five bouts as the Pride prevailed with a 16-15 decision. Foley topped RIC's Brandon Conrad, 3-2.
In the title match, Springfield won four of the first six bouts, only to have Roger Williams prevail in the final four matches, including a pair of pins, en route to the regional championship.
Earlier in the week, in a 30-7 win over Norwich, Foley, who entered the meet ranked third in the NEWA in his weight class, prevailed over the conference's second-ranked wrestler, Dave Pinto, in a 3-1 match that went to sudden victory overtime.
