Devin Biscaha: Wrestling

Devin Biscaha
Devin Biscaha of the Springfield College wrestling team has been named this week's Springfield College Male Maroon Athlete of the Week. A junior 157-pounder from Jackson, N.J., Biscaha achieved the ultimate in his sport last Saturday by winning a national championship at the NCAA Division III Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The physical education major became the first SC wrestler to win an NCAA Division III individual title, and just the second SC wrestler (besides 1984 Olympic gold medalist Jeff Blatnick) to earn an NCAA title in any division. The unseeded Biscaha won all of his five matches, defeating the #6, #3, #2, and #4 seeds along the way, including Kristopher Krawchuk of Wilkes, 3-0, in the championship match. He helped SC to a #8 team finish with 42 points, its best national finish since the 1997 squad placed seventh.
