Men's Gymnastics -- Four Pride Competitors Earn All-East Recognition a Total of Seven Times

Ty Evans Williamsburg, Va. -- April 3, 2010 -- A total of four competitors from the Springfield College men's gymnastics team earned All-East recognition a total of seven times earlier today at the ECAC/EIGL Championships at The College of William & Mary. Sophomore Ty Evans earned All-East plaudits four times on the weekend, while junior Josh Fox earned All-East recognition three times Friday and Saturday.

Evans, a native of San Jose, Calif., had already been named All-East Friday by finishing third in the All-Around. Today, he placed second in the parallel bars (13.900), tied for third in the high bar (14.250), and fifth in the floor exercise (14.050).

Fox had placed fourth Friday in the All-Around. This afternoon, Fox, who hails from Ellicott City, Md., took sixth in the high bar (14.150), and tied for sixth in the floor exercise (13.800).

Others who placed included senior co-captain Matt Tocchio (Braintree, Mass.), who finished fifth in the pommel horse (13.750), and freshman Jimmy Pezzino (Buffalo, N.Y.), who finished fourth in the vault (15.300).

The men now await to find out who among individuals will advance to the NCAA Division I Championships at Army in two weeks.
