Pennington and Thompson Shine In Second Day of TCNJ Invitational

Caroline Kosciusko Day Two Results

Ewing, N.J. - December 4, 2010 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team had another solid day at the TCNJ Invitational on Saturday evening behind a pair of stellar performances by freshmen Kellie Pennington and Jennifer Thompson.

After the second day of competition, Johns Hopkins still leads with 1,001 points, while the Pride stand in second with 790 points.

Pennington was tremendous as she set a pair of school records on the evening. She took home an win in the 100 fly as she posted a NCAA qualifying time of 57.66, breaking the previous schol record held by Mary Boiczyk of 57.92 from 1999. She later posted her second win of the night in the 100 with another NCAA qualifying time of 51.84, breaking teammate Kaitlin Reilly's record of 52.78 from 2009.

Aimee Doe touched second in the 500 free with a time of 5:11.33, while Meredith Trumbull finished in sixth in the 200 back in 2:18.30. In the 200 breast, Jennifer Carnigan took eighth in 2:37.32.

Springfield dominated the 100 free as it had the top-four finishers in the event. Behind Pennington, Reilly took second in a time of 53,57. Doe took fourth in 54.24, while Caroline Kosciusko touched in 54.40 for fourth.

Thompson captured the title on the three-meter board as she recorded a 476.18, while Courtney Keefe totaled 452.70 points to claim fourth place. Kyra Breitweiser also scored a 447.08 to finish in seventh. All met NCAA qualifying marks in the event.

Springfield's 400 free relay also snagged first place points as Pennington, Doe, Kosciusko, and Reilly cruised to victory in 3:32.82.
