



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. -- January 26, 2013 -- John Dayton captured the weight throw for the hosts in the Springfield College Indoor Track & Field Meet this afternoon at the SC Field House. St. Lawrence won the team competition with the Pride finishing seventh of 11 squads.
The final team results were as follows: St. Lawrence 125, Amherst 76, RPI 72, Westfield State 64, Coast Guard 56, WPI 51, Springfield 39, AIC 33, Eastern Connecticut State 24, Keene State 10, Trinity 3.
Dayton was the only member of the Pride to finish first on the day. The junior from Bolton, Conn. heaved the weight throw in 17.38 meters, 2.29 meters better than his nearest competitor.
Other point scorers for Springfield included senior Sean Nunan (Clinton, Conn.), who finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.48 seconds, senior Steven Gilfeather (Kingston, N.Y.) fourth in the 1000-meter run in 2:40.06, freshman Sam Baker (Durham, Conn.) fifth in the high jump in 1.88 meters, and sophomore Tim Johansmeyer (Norton, Mass.) fourth in the long jump in 6.22 meters, and fifth in the triple jump in 12.54 meters.
Next Saturday (Feb. 2), Springfield will host its third and final indoor track meet of the winter season beginning at 11:00 am.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
