Field Hockey Team and 16 Student-Athletes Garner NFHCA Academic Accolades

Springfield College Field Hockey Chandler, Ariz. - March 5, 2013 - The Springfield College field hockey team and 16 of its student-athletes have been honored by the National Field Hockey Coach's Association for their efforts in the classroom.

The Pride earned the NFHCA team academic award, presented to teams who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall 2012 semester.

Additionally, 16 members of Springfield’s squad were named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Members of this team have posted an individual GPA of 3.30 or higher during the fall semester.

Senior Kayla Sokol was also recognized for earning a spot on the National Academic Squad for all four years of their collegiate career.

Joining Sokol was Jennifer Clark, Christina DeGirolamo, Sarah Ducharme, Kelly Gallo, Elizabeth Hart, Liz Hurley, Sarah Kelly, Abbie King, Meghan McHugh, Alyssa Monahan, MK Murray, Linnea Quist, Emily Rodgers, and Meg Stewart.

Springfield finished the 2012 campaign with a 10-10 record and came close to winning its eighth league title before falling in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship game.
