Men's Soccer Clips Westfield State, 1-0

Mike Desroches Box Score

Westfield, Mass. - October 10, 2012 - Mike Desroches scored the game's only goal just 4:04 into the contest to lift the Springfield College men's soccer team to a 1-0 non-conference victory at Westfield State Wednesday evening.

The Pride is now 4-8-1 and is 3-1-1 in its last five matches while Westfield drops to 4-7-1.

Both Danny Amato and David Chessen were credited with assists as a pass flicked over a Westfield defender sprung Desroches free for an open shot in the box.

Springfield outshot Westfield, 9-6, in the defensive contest.

Owl goalie Kris Carrington had three saves and Brett Bascom needed to make one save for the shutout victory.

Springfield will play again on Saturday when it travels for an important conference match at MIT beginning at 4:00 pm.
