Men's Track and Field Competes at BU Invitational

Boston, Mass. - February 12, 2011 -- A contingent of the Springfield College men's track & field team competed at the BU/Valentines Day Invitational this past Saturday in Boston. It was a non-scoring meet as far as team results were concerned.

The following results were compiled from a Springfeld College point of view.

Three Springfield College athletes placed in the 200-meter dash. Dylan Brock finished in 67th place with a time of 23:13. Right behind him in 68th was teammate Kyle Brown with a time of 23:14. Tom Brognano placed 78th at 23:24.

Nickel Hay sprinted home with a time of 49.12 for the Pride to take 22nd place in the 400-meter dash. Kevin Behlmer was 59th with a time of 50.24. Chris Quetant with a time of 51.09 finished in the 88th spot, and Fernando Beltran was 100th at 51.59.

Springfield placed twice in the 500-meter dash. Sean Nunan with a time of 1:06.69 placed 31st, and in 37th came Alex Harrington with a time of 1:07.63. Greg Coleman came in with a time of 2:01.86 in the 800-meter dash. That placed him 135th out of 177.

The Pride had five performers place in the 1000-meter run. In 26th place was Troy French with a 2:30.20. Following him were Stephen Creamer in 38th with a time of 2:32.90, Zach Pietras with 2:34.56 placing 57th, Matt Scully in 57th with a 2:36.30, and Ryan Allison in 65th at 2:37.99.

The 4x400 men’s team placed 19th with a time of 3:20.98. That team included Nunan, Quetant, Behlmer and Hay. The men’s distance medly placed 14th including Creamer, Nunan, French and Ryan O’Connell with a time of 10:10.63. William Ferguson handled the high jump competition with a leap of 1.88 meters placing him at 15th.

For Springfield the long jump event was taken by Dylan Brock, who placed 14th with 6.34 meters. In the shot put, Orlando Harvey threw 13.12 meters, placing him at 21st. Teammates Michael Cataldo placed 35th in 11.80 meters, and Joe Bonano finished in 11.43 meters. Nick Hogan placed 13th in the weight throw at 13.99 meters.

Springfield will be hosting the New England Division III Championships at home on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-19, in the Field House.
