Men's Cross Country Competes in New England Championships

Boston, Mass. - October 12, 2013 - The Springfield College men's cross country team competed against the top teams in the region when it raced in the New England Championships at Franklin Park on Saturday, finishing 41st as a team.

Jake Simons (Naugatuck, Conn.) had the Pride's top time, a 27:55, while teammate Joe Geurds (Albany, N.Y.) posted a 28:09. The duo was closely followed by Erich Voelker (Albany, N.Y.), Scott Bushey (Hebron, Conn.), Corey Hamel (Methuen, Mass.) who finished in a pack in 28:26, 28:30, and 28:34, respectively.

Central Connecticut State University was the overall team winner while American International College's Mike Biwott was the top finisher in 23:43.

The Pride will race again next weekend at Connecticut College.
