Off to its best start as a Division III program, the last Springfield College team to start the year with a 3-0 record was the 1995 team that advanced to the NCAA Division II National Championship.
The Pride were also recognized by Lacrosse Magazine, getting ranked 9th in the weekly poll.
After a season-opening 20-9 victory over the Fighting Scots of Gordon College, the Pride traveled to Rochester, N.Y. to take on the then No. 10 ranked Nazareth College Golden Flyers. Behind a stellar performance between the pipes from goalkeeper Connor Nash (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) in which the senior posted 18 saves, the Pride came out on top, 11-10.
This past weekend, Springfield improved to 3-0 as it once again hit the road and picked up a 14-10 victory at Stevens behind a five-point performance from junior attackmen Dylan Sheehan (Massapequa, N.Y.) including three goals and two assists. Junior Bryce Serriello (Cape Cod, Mass.) netted four goals while Nash came up big again in the cage, making 13 stops.
The schedule won’t get any easier for the Pride, it will host cross-town rival Western New England University on Saturday. The game is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
